MARK YOUR CALENDAR: WEBINAR Go Far, Walk Together: Community Engagement as Transformative Practice

NAAEE published Community Engagement: Guidelines for Excellence April 2017. Part of the National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education series, this set of guidelines focuses on community wellness and is designed to help environmental educators create inclusive environments that support effective partnerships and collaborations. These and the other topics considered in the Community Engagement Guidelines are, by their very nature, complex. As a way of helping environmental educators begin to navigate community engagement practices, we are sponsoring webinars that delve more deeply into specific topics or issues.

Please join us, on Thursday, September 28th from 4-5 pm ET, when we will hear from three representatives of the Center for Whole Communities: Co-Director of Field & Network Development, Mohamad Chakaki; Program Manager, Joshua Carrera; and Organizational Development and Programs Co-Director, Ginny McGinn (facilitator). Center for Whole Communities exists to cultivate transformative leadership that weaves together and strengthens movements for justice and the environment. In this experiential and interactive webinar, they will present their vision for cultivating whole communities by collectively engaging in  core Whole Thinking Practices of awareness, story, working with difference, and conscious conversation.

If you’d like to learn a bit more about some of their work in advance of the webinar, we’d recommend that you explore three of their publications:

Whole Measures for Urban Conservation (2017)

Whole Measures for Community Food Systems: Values Based Planning and Evaluation (2009)

Whole Measures: Transforming our Success (2007)
