Let's Talk about Water in Florida

Florida Humanities is awarding Community Project Grants to nonprofit organizations and public institutions across Florida whose projects strengthen vibrant communities and cultures, promote civic engagement, spark thoughtful community dialogue, and reflect on the human experience across the Sunshine State.

These grants are designed to support a vast array of projects. Applicants can request up to $5,000. Several of the programmatic priorities are relevant to environmental education organizations. Perhaps the most relevant is: "Water as an essential component of life on our planet (environmentally, culturally, and historically), using the humanities to examine a community’s relationship with water as it relates to their cultural history."

Healthy Aging in the Northeast

Interested in advocating for legislation that funds wheelchair-friendly gardens? Do you want to see more multigenerational programming? Tufts Health Plan Foundation supports policy and/or systems-level change leading to age-friendly communities. Eligible locations include Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Engagement and Equity in Seattle, Washington

Does your environmental education programming clearly addresses economic and racial disparities and prioritize community engagement?

Seattle Foundations Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) grants are up to a maximum of $7,500 and are intended for grassroots efforts that lead to increased engagement, power and influence of community members affected by poverty and racial disparities.

Make an Impact in Kansas

Does your nonprofit organization serve the metropolitan Kansas City area?

Impact KC is awarding one-time grants to one to four organizations through an annual application process. The general range of grants is $5,000 to $15,000. Areas of grant interest include:

• Aging
• Arts and culture
• Community development
• Education/Youth services
• Health and life sciences
• Social services/Families

Better Communities in Rochester, New York

Does environmental education help create better communities? We believe so, and so does Rochester Area Foundation (RAF). The 2021 Spring Better Communities Grant finalists included projects such as an accessible wellness trail, a greens washing station, and a summer nature camp. Grant requests between $2,500 and $25,000 will be considered, and must come from a be a nonprofit organization or governmental body (including schools and municipalities) located within 30 miles around Rochester or intending to serve communities within this area.

Tackling Environmental Concerns in California

Are you a small grassroots group addressing toxic pollution, urban sprawl, sustainable agriculture, climate change, or environmental degradation? The California Environmental Grassroots Fund awards small grants ($5,000 or less) to projects in California. Applicants may be a nonprofit, be fiscally sponsored by another nonprofit, or ask for fiscal sponsorship from the fund.
