As a Catholic, I have been most drawn to the example of St. Francis of Assisi, who is our tradition’s patron saint of the environment.”  These words demonstrate that members of the faith community can be powerful partners to include in developing your environmental education programs and conservation efforts to care for God's creation.  There are, for example, over 70 million registered Catholics in the United States.  That’s 22% of the US population!

Pope Francis states, “Never have we so hurt and mistreated our common home as we have in the last two hundred years.” He recognizes that faith can guide us to positive action and that “humanity still has the ability to work together in building our common home.”
