Kaycee Rogers is a CLASS program coordinator at CESA 2 in Wisconsin. CLASS is a teacher certification pathway approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction that caters to working adults through its flexible and innovative format. Specifically, I work with teacher candidates and teachers who are adding additional licensure areas in ESL, Elementary Ed, and Spanish. I also co-coordinate the clinical program to support and coach teachers in their classrooms. I am a teacher educator, former elementary and middle school teacher, and current doctoral candidate studying rural multilingual education. I was also a camp counselor. I am a conservation and nature enthusiast!

Kaycee Rogers is a lifelong teacher,  learner, and lover of language. She grew up in rural Northwest Wisconsin. She graduated from Luther College as an Elementary Education major with ESL, Spanish, and Reading certifications. She began her career teaching 3rd and 4th grade in Colombia. She also taught 4th grade Spanish Immersion in Minnesota, 7th grade Spanish, and K-8 ESL in Menomonie, WI. She found her “educational home” as a Middle School ESL teacher in Eau Claire, WI, where she was part of a great team of language educators and taught students from more than a dozen home language backgrounds. After mentoring several stellar student teachers, Kaycee pursued a Master’s degree in Professional Development from UW La Crosse. From there, she moved into teacher education.

As the Director of Education for Augsburg University’s satellite campus in Rochester, MN, Kaycee taught, advised, and supervised students pursuing teacher certification in Special Education, Elementary Education, and ESL. Later, she moved on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she served as the ESL Program Coordinator for the Secondary Education dual-certification masters program.

Now, Kaycee serves as the CLASS program coordinator at CESA 2, continuing to work with teachers pursuing teacher licensure across the state of Wisconsin. She is an instructor in our ESL, Spanish, Elementary, and Initial licensure courses. She also supports candidates across content areas in their clinical program. In addition, she is a PhD candidate in Curriculum and Instruction at UW Madison. Kaycee is researching the identity, agency, and positionality of rural ESL teachers and how schools and communities could better support them in doing the important work of teaching rural multilingual learners.

She likes to cook, can, camp, and read!
