The Okayama ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) Promotion Commission is the network of various stakeholders, including universities, civic organizations, businesses and local governments in Okayama area in Japan. Since its establishment in 2005, it has been collaborating to make ESD a community-driven initiative in the area with the aim of establishing a community in which people learn, think and act together toward the realization of a sustainable society.

The Okayama ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) Promotion Commission (secretariat: Okayama City Office) is the network of various stakeholders, including universities, civic organizations, businesses and local governments in Okayama area in Japan. Since its establishment in 2005, it has been collaborating to make ESD a community-driven initiative in the area with the aim of establishing a community in which people learn, think and act together toward the realization of a sustainable society.
One of the projects the Okayama ESD Promotion Commission has been promoting is the ESD Okayama Award.? Launched in 2015 with the aim of contributing to the promotion of ESD activities around the world, it recognizes good practices of ESD both in Japan and overseas. Each year, about two organizations are chosen and awarded a certificate and prize money.
