Redbud grew up playing in the bayous and woods of Houston, cultivating a love for the land while watching the fireflies slowly disappear, oil bubbling up in Mustang bayou, and experiencing the impacts of corporate greed and climate change firsthand. Redbud studied Communications, World Cultures & Literatures, and Environmental Arts & Humanities in her undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Her educational background and current work centers intersectional environmental justice, land-based education, and ecological ethics, including dismantling harmful western worldviews and systems that are at the root of intersectional oppression.
In her work as a facilitator and mentor, she combines empathy and perspective-taking activities, hands-on nature exploration, critical self-relfection, collective healing, and community connection. She feels most at peace while dancing; gardening; celebrating in community; cuddling her cats; spending time outdoors with plant, animal, and fungi kin; exploring new places with her family; and witnessing strides in inclusivity and intersectional justice work.
