Victor Ayegba Mathew is an Environmental Educator and youth development advocate dedicated to making environmental learning practical, engaging, and accessible to young people across Nigeria. With over seven years of experience, he uses storytelling, outdoor education, and local examples to help students understand climate change and take action in their communities.
Through his initiative, Vikipedia Green Initiative, Victor leads environmental education programs in 31 schools, reaching 4,853 students, including children with special needs such as the blind and the deaf. He founded the Earthstorytelling Clubs, which promote environmental awareness, creativity, and inclusive learning among students in Kano and Kaduna States.
Victor has implemented several impactful projects, including Untold Stories About Nature, Untold Stories About Water (supported by EarthChild Institute), and the Plant a Birthday Tree campaign, which has reached over 1,200 students. He also received the African Climate Stories Grant, where he worked with three schools and 120 students through an outdoor project titled Nature and Arts.
Beyond environmental work, he is committed to youth development. He leads the Vikipedia Mentorship Program, a yearly initiative that supports teenagers from underserved communities with guidance on personal development, values, vision-setting, and life skills.
He collaborates with organizations including EarthCharter International, Swarovski Waterschool Foundation, and the North American Association for Environmental Education. Victor currently teaches environmental studies at Sahel Academy, Kano, and continues to champion environmental awareness and youth empowerment across communities.
He is married to Grace Ayegba and is father to Goshen Egahiojo Ayegba.
