Our transition from a five-year pilot to the official NC GreenPower Solar+ Schools program was approved by the NC Utilities Commission in October 2019. CORAL REEF RESEARCH PROGRAM - Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

PROGRAM LOCATION: The Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences (RIMS), Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras.

The Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences (RIMS) is excited to offer a 4-week long Coral Reef Research Field Course this summer. If you are interested in coral reef ecology and conservation, this field course will provide a unique opportunity to live on a small Caribbean island and gain valuable field research experience on one of the most biologically diverse and well-developed reefs in the Caribbean.

RIMS was established in 1989 with the primary objective of protecting Roatan’s natural resources through education and research. In almost three decades our facility has established itself as a dedicated teaching institution and we are visited throughout the year by colleges and universities from abroad to study tropical marine ecosystems. Our facility is ideally located on the northwest coast of Roatan with easy access to miles of fringing and barrier reef, seagrass beds, and mangrove communities.

Want to make a difference locally for birds that can spread globally?! Become a steward of beach-nesting birds where they are most vulnerable and when they need you most!

What is FrogWatch USA?

A group of volunteers who monitor local frog populations by listening for frog calls throughout the spring and summer.



What is the commitment for Volunteering?

We ask that you conduct at least four 10 minute monitoring sessions between February and August.

The 1st World Sustainable Development Teach-In Day, a concept pioneered by the Research and Transfer Centre "Sustainable Development and Climate Change Management" of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences was held on 3rd December 2010 and was attended by over 500 universities and nearly 20.000 students.

Now, 10 years after the first event was organised, the "World Sustainable Development Teach-In Day 2020" will be held on Friday, 4th December 2020. It will be regularly repeated over the period 2020-2030, and will accompany the implementation of the SDGs.
