Environment and Politics in Africa Youth Dialogue (Virtual Conference)

From deforestation, pollution, loss of biodiversity, climate change, over-exploitation of natural resources to desertification, the world is facing overwhelming environmental challenges that when not tackled head-on would bring man closer to his precipice. In Africa, these challenges are evidently more compounded. This conference will analyze (citing relevant examples from our regions) instances where political leaders have made or continue to make poor environmental decisions as well as the implications or likely costs. We will also highlight the best practices as well as share thoughts on what should be done for Africa to be a shining beacon in so far as environmental protection and natural resources management are concerned.

The NEXT Institute is an intensive day of inspired learning, collaboration and networking, focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the core principles that drive our work with educators. The NEXT experience provides educators with new knowledge and skills to support development of classroom and school program practice and culture. We focus particularly on taking an experiential, community based approach to our DEI related work.

Ethics in Urban Sustainable Development Through the Lenses of the Earth Charter

This Earth Charter Cities Course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to take urban sustainability practices to higher levels by using the Earth Charter (EC) and the Earth Charter Cities (ECC) Manifesto.

This course helps participants develop a broad approach to sustainability and make the EC Principles actionable at an urban level.

The course intends to help participants be prepared to develop sustainable and inclusive communities.
