Coastal Stewards Workshop - Stormwater and Green Infrastructure
Discover how stormwater runoff impacts Georgia’s waterways and embrace innovative green infrastructure solutions. You'll create a preliminary design for managing stormwater on your own yard or other site of your choice. We'll also take a field trip around Savannah to see examples of development that successfully manages stormwater, such as permeable pavement and rain gardens.
Please plan to attend both days. Friday night, the program will take place 5 to 8 p.m. Dinner and a lecture will be provided. Saturday will run from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. and includes lunch, but not breakfast. On Saturday, the morning will be spent in design sessions followed by an afternoon of field trips to see low impact development.
The Coastal Stewards program is a series of environmental education workshops targeted to adults living on or visiting the Georgia coast. The goal of the program is to engage adults in activities designed to improve their knowledge of coastal ecosystems, enhance understanding of current issues impacting coastal communities, and inspire stewardship of natural resources. Each workshop contains a mixture of lecture, lab and field activities using scientific and recreational equipment.
Workshops can be taken individually or as part of the Coastal Stewards Program. Participants who complete an introductory workshop and an additional four of their choosing will be recognized as Coastal Stewards.
