Corals in the Classroom - Part 1

The National Aquarium and the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation (KSLOF) invite formal and informal educators to explore the underwater world of coral reefs by participating in Corals in the Classroom, a two part professional development workshop.  Gain access to KSLOF’s Coral Reef Ecology Curriculum, hosted on a state-of-the-art online learning platform, containing free and innovative content including photos, videos, interactives, lesson plans, quizzes and more.  Part 1 of this two-part workshop will focus on coral biology and the biotic and abiotic factors that affect coral reefs.  Part 2 of this two-part workshop will focus on the current state of coral reefs and the threats they are facing.  In addition, you will learn how scientists study coral reefs and take part in a coral reef survey simulation.

This workshop is appropriate for middle and high school educators.  Maryland teachers that complete both Part 1 and Part 2 of Corals in the Classroom may be eligible to receive 1 MSDE Professional Development Credit.
