M.A.Ed. in Urban Environmental Education & Leadership at Antioch University
In Person and Online
Multicultural collaborative learning is a powerful force in the Urban Environmental Education and Leadership M.A.Ed. program (UEE) at Antioch University Seattle. We focus on social justice by shaping environmental leadership with a focus on race, diversity and inclusion.
The multicultural makeup of our faculty and students fuels our in-class and online learning, place-based research and our practices in community-based organizations. 59% of our graduate students and 55% of our faculty identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color). The strong cohort model has continued through the transition to online delivery. All of our faculty are practitioners and active in organizations that aim to build an equitable environmental field and resilient cities.
The multiple challenges of 2020 have transitioned the UEE program into on-line learning using a Zoom-based platform. When approved by the University, the UEE program will again welcome students to study with us at Antioch University in Seattle. AND, we will continue offering classes and the full program online.
The move to a Zoom-based approach opens up opportunities to expand participation in our graduate program geographically. Beginning the Summer of 2021, entry into the full graduate program will be possible from cities across the U.S. as all courses can be taken remotely. The Practicum can take place within your ‘home’ city, if you can’t relocate to Seattle. The UEE M.A.Ed. program is 48 credits ($530 a credit) with a 30-week Paid research-based Practicum. The whole program can be completed in 5 quarters…enter Summer of 2021 and graduate Summer of 2022. Scholarships are available.
UEE courses are available now to people seeking professional development. Classes in Multicultural Environmental Educaction Strategies, Multicultural Environmental Leadership, Community Engagement, Urban Ecology and Sustainable Practices, Leadership and Reform are open to professionals seeking to cultivate equity, diversity and inclusion into their organizations.
