Project WILD has launched two online educator professional development courses on vector-borne diseases: WILD and Healthy Outside: A Tick Trek Adventure and WILD and Healthy Outside: Mosquito Mayhem. These new “WILD and Healthy Outside” courses provide elementary, middle, and high school level educators with training to lead hands-on, engaging activities for use in formal and nonformal settings. Through role-playing and simulations, students examine how mosquito-borne and tick-borne diseases transfer between wildlife and humans. These courses were created through a partnership between AFWA and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), with funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
