Young Climate Authors Educator Training Program
We strongly believe that in order for children to get engaged with climate change and to commit themselves to a lifetime of action, they need to see their voices recognized, affirmed and amplified from an early age. The Young Climate Authors (YCA) is a book authoring program which teaches children how to write storybooks on climate change. The outcomes of the program are in line with UN SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for Goals) & ESD. Forty-five child-authored books have been published through this and related programs. Browse the books here.
The Educator Training program equips adults to conduct the YCA in their communities. The program provides an overview of Climate Change & Climate Justice, Project Based Learning & mentoring children's book-authoring. The program has been conducted with over 30 educators across 10 countries across 3 continents.
The upcoming program will run from Sept 7th–Nov 30th 2024. The course consists on a 2 hour weekly meeting and asynchronous work over the week. Participants will customize the YCA to create their own place-based & contextualized lesson plans. A key outcome is a participant authored climate story, complete with illustrations, design and published as an ebook! Write to us at cogitationclubs@gmail.com
