2021 Ocean Literacy Summit
The Ocean Literacy Summit is a biennial conference that brings together educators and scientists from across New England and surrounding states for the purpose of sharing new marine science and oceanographic developments along with new approaches and successful programs for teaching ocean science in both school and informal educational settings. To demonstrate the power of collaboration and communication among professionals in these sectors, all of the Summit’s concurrent sessions feature scientists and educators as co-presenters.
This year’s Summit will be a hybrid format, taking place virtually November 10thand in-person November 11th with local, regional field trips across New England.
On Wednesday, November 10th we will hold virtual sessions from 9:00 am-12:00 pm that will connect scientists with educators. The Summit will continue with an optional virtual lunchtime trivia (12:00-12:45) and networking event (12:45-1:45). On Thursday, November 11th we will be offering field trips across New England (including CT and RI) hosted by NEOSEC organizational members.
Sessions will be centered around Ocean Literacy Principle #4: The ocean makes Earth habitable.
