Black Planet: Black Environmental Legacies, Present & Futures
This discussion will bring together a community of scholars-activists from academia and non-profit organizations for a rich dialogue on the legacy of Black environmental leadership, scholarship and activism. Black people around the world have founded, shaped and driven environmental movements, and this conversation honors those contributions while looking to present day leaders in the environment. We will hear from our panelists on what brought them into environmental work, challenge colonial notions of what it means to look like and be an environmentalist, and engage in a journey to reconnect to the land and to ourselves.

This discussion brings together a community of dynamic environmentalists, ranging from scholars to community organizers, to culminate and celebrate that the descriptor of “environmentalist” is encompassing. Join us as we explore what inspired them, how they got there and what it means to be a Black environmentalist.

Black to the Future: Radically Imagining Liberatory Futures
There is no such thing as a sustainable, environmental future without thriving Black communities. This discussion will center and radically imagine an environmental future–places where Black people can thrive! We have to imagine what that looks like and co-create it.
We will hear from an intergenerational panel of environmental leaders on their thoughts and vision of a future where Black people can thrive, imagine, and create towards liberation, justice, and equity.
