Empower Students, Activate Change: Free NGSS-Aligned Curriculum + Project Funding & Scholarships
Empowering Youth to Lead Sustainability Projects in Their Communities
Walking Softer Education is a free, ready-to-implement program that equips high school educators with engaging, NGSS-aligned curriculum focused on environmental sustainability. This opportunity is open to any high school class, club, or out-of-school-time program across the U.S.
The program is designed to make environmental education accessible and action-oriented, without adding extra burden to already busy educators. Participating students investigate local sustainability challenges and lead real-world projects to address them, while educators receive built-in support and funding to facilitate easy implementation.
What’s Included:
- NGSS-Aligned Lessons: Students explore topics like ecosystems, climate change, and sustainable systems through inquiry-based lessons that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Project-Based Learning + Funding: Groups receive up to $2,000 to plan and launch student-led sustainability projects. These projects empower students to apply what they’ve learned to real environmental challenges in their communities.
- Teacher Support + Stipend: Teachers receive a $1,000 stipend to support their time and participation. The curriculum is web-based and comes with everything needed for easy implementation. No environmental science background required!
- Scholarships for Juniors & Seniors: Participating students may be eligible for a $20,000 scholarship to pursue sustainability-focused education after high school. No specific major is required, and it can be used towards a two-year, four-year degree, or a trade school.
