Established in 1863 as Kansas State Normal School, Emporia State University is the first public institution in Kansas charged with preparing teachers, and The Teachers College continues the legacy of excellence as a national leader in educator preparation. The College also offers non-educator preparation degrees in psychology, athletic training, health promotion, recreation, rehabilitation, mental health, art therapy and instructional design and technology.
