  • Environmental Studies

As an Environmental Science major you explore the scientific aspects of natural resources and environmental issues. Our program emphasizes proficiency in the biological and physical sciences, offering electives in biology, chemistry, physics, marine biology, and psychology, as well as in environmental science. You focus on how the sciences impact the work being done in environmental disciplines, and leave our program with a firm understanding of the relationships between environmental problems and human social traditions, politics, and policies.

If you are interested in becoming a middle school or high school science teacher, you may select the necessary courses in secondary education as electives, and complete the teaching internship required to qualify for State of Maine certification (grades 7-12) upon graduation.
