Asvini Thivakaran (age 11, from Round Rock, Texas, www.asvinithivakaran.com) received the President’s Environmental Youth Award (PEYA) from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2018 for her environmental activities.

She created and is currently working on an environmental educational YouTube channel called E-TALK (Environmental Talk) to educate and give awareness to the public about the environmental issues and solutions.  

Asvini recently released an awareness video and poster about the importance of proper COVID-19 PPE disposal called “COVID-19 Waste: Trash Free Water.” This is an ongoing issue globally and we all need to act now to stop the COVID-19 PPE reaching the ocean. This will damage the environment and be harmful to animals.

This awareness video and poster encourages everyone to properly dispose of COVID-19 waste such as masks, gloves, and empty hand sanitizer bottles. This will support trash free water and reduce ocean plastic pollution and save animals.
