Equitable Advocacy: Delaware Nature Society Reframes Its Advocacy Approach [article]
Many environmental organizations engage in advocacy — but how many are considering equity and inclusion in their civic engagement?
In her recent article for the Association of Nature Center Administrators, Ellie Ezekiel of Delaware Nature Society says that nature centers need to advocate equitably for issues small and large: "[An] Equity Lens can, and should, be used for more serious, broad-scale concerns such as ensuring the equitable distribution of infrastructure funding, the prioritization of park land in urban neighborhoods that lack tree canopy cover, and the requirement that there be made room at the decision-making table for environmental justice community leaders."
