I'm a lifelong naturalist and nature artist with a deep passion for environmental education, especially in the areas of biodiversity and climate change. With Green Teacher, I wear many hats, including magazine editor; webinar host; podcast writer, editor, and co-host; and resource reviewer.

I am a PhD student at Penn State University studying Recreation, Park and Tourism Management. My research interests include community wellness and resilience, outdoor learning and recreation, and transformative experiences in nature. I taught pre-K through 11th grade students in the outdoors.

Mark owns Medicine Bow Wilderness School in the Southern Appalachians, he teaches nature classes and survival skills of the Cherokees. Mark has been teaching environmental education for almost 50 years. In 1980 the National Wildlife Federation named him Georgia’s Conservation Educator of the Year.
