I am the Founder/Director of Conservation Conexions, which is dedicated to developing relationships between people and the land through engagement in nature and forest therapy and a variety of arenas around conservation education and action, with a strong focus on serving diverse communities.
I teach Earth and Environmental Sciences at Asheville High School in Asheville, North Carolina.
Asheville High School was the inaugural winner to the Drawdown EcoChallenge.
I am a professor in the Department of Civil Society and Community Studies and Associate Dean in the School of Human Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My research focuses on children and adolescents' commitments to the environmental commons.
