My personal philosophy is Service through Science. I studied the impacts of urban development on mammal, behavior, endoparasites, and population genetics. I developed a mentoring program designed for technicians, interns and volunteers that focused on career development and graduate school options.

I work with teen programs at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences; primarily, our Junior Curator, Junior Volunteer and Girls in Science programs. I am an N.C. Certified Environmental Educator with a B.S. in Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology from N.C. State University.
Growing up in Ohio, my idea of "Nature" revolved around a suburban backyard and a framed picture of the Rockies in my pediatricians office. I'm lucky my experiences since then have expanded my perception of the outdoors, and I've dedicated my career to helping others enjoy similar experiences!
I started EE during grad school teaching the public about the wonderful hellbender salamander. From their my love of education and outreach grew and has resulted in lesson plans, designing and implementing field trips, and an EE AmeriCorps internship in WA state.
